You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including our in-house disciplines and high-profile designers as well as our sector-leading external partners. You’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the GTA’s largest and most complex transit-oriented projects. These currently include Hurontario LRT, Yonge North Subway Extension, and Ontario Line. You will be challenged and inspired by projects that demand a variety of ideas and solutions that arise from collaboration and appreciation for a wide variety of design disciplines.

Role accountabilities:

  • Lead, collaborate with and mentor junior staff in delivering coordinated landscape submissions in accordance with project delivery schedules and requirements on major transit projects.
  • Independently manage and lead multi-disciplinary teams and assist with project completion from bid phase to detailed design and contract documents.
  • Present high-quality graphic presentations, detailed design schemes and reports.
  • Engage with and manage Clients/Stakeholders and ensure deadlines and budgetary constraints are met for all projects.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills and ensure that a high level of professionalism and design excellence are upheld within each project.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited institution within the field of Landscape Architecture.
  • A minimum of 8 years (post-graduation) of relevant working experience in a professional design firm with proven experience leading and managing teams.
  • Previous experience working within large multi-disciplinary teams as part of a project delivery system that includes project agreements, project specific output specifications and schedules for infrastructure-led projects such as rail or roadway is considered an asset.
  • Multi-disciplinary interests in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Active Transportation Planning, Transportation Planning and Environmental Restoration including a strong awareness/understanding of current issues in design and sustainability.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of assisting in the preparation of design narratives and proposals.
  • Strong mentorship capabilities to guide and collaborate with junior designers and professionals.
  • Capacity to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment with a keen eye for detail.
  • Capacity to uphold design excellence in challenging project time frames and deadlines.
  • Proficiency and confidence in developing contract documents including drawings, details, specifications and quantities.
  • Knowledge of local plant materials and experience with municipal and agency approvals and regulations.
  • Ability to lead the preparation of RFP responses, assembling a team and preparing fee estimates.
  • Proficiency in the latest version of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, Revit and ArcGIS considered an asset.
