THE OPPORTUNITY
Looking for a role doing what you love at a dynamic and innovative consulting firm? We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized
Intermediate/Senior Forest Analyst to join our team, remotely or at one of our offices on a permanent full-time basis.
The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and other languages.
Responsibilities
- Undertake/collaborate with team members on forest estate modelling, and resource management planning projects using Forest Estate Models (Patchworks, Remsoft Spatial Planning Suite, STSM, SELES)
- Conduct spatial analysis with ArcGIS and qGIS, POSTGIS/PostgreSQL.
- Undertake statistical analysis (R, python, excel), growth & yield modeling, (FPS, FVS, TASS, TIPSY, VDYP, GYPSY, MGM) and carbon modeling (GCBM, CBM)
- Interpret and apply land use, forest inventory, and policy data
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on sustainable forest management, carbon analysis, and Indigenous-led stewardship and planning projects
- Prepare high-quality technical reports and presentations for clients, government agencies, and stakeholders
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the development of analytical tools and workflows
Qualifications
- Consulting industry experience considered an asset.
- Deltek Vantagepoint experience an asset.
- A degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in resource analysis or forest modelling (senior candidates should demonstrate 8+ years and leadership experience)
- Proficiency in spatial analysis, modelling software, and data visualization tools
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
- Knowledge of forest management framework and legislation within BC and other jurisdictions
- RPF designation (or eligibility) is an asset but not required
