The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical transmission systems and enhancing operational processes. Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a P.Eng designation, and have at least 5 years of relevant experience, ideally with knowledge of Indigenous cultures. Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of FortisOntario Inc., acts as the Project Manager of Wataynikaneyap Power LP (“Wataynikaneyap Power”). Wataynikaneyap Power is a licensed transmission entity, majority-owned by a partnership of 24 First Nation communities in partnership with Fortis Inc. and other private investors. The partnership is an unprecedented undertaking and has constructed 1,800 kilometres of 230 kV, 115 kV, and 44 kV transmission lines and over 22 substations in northwestern Ontario. Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineer
Full-Time Permanent Position
The Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineer plays a key role in supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the electrical transmission system. Reporting to the Director, Operations at Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc., the incumbent is responsible for applying a solid understanding of operational, maintenance, control, and protection requirements across the transmission system. This role coordinates the development and enhancement of operational processes and procedures related to the operation and maintenance of substation equipment, SCADA and communication systems, system control, and outage planning. The position also oversees specific projects aimed at implementing and enhancing system monitoring, dispatch, and reporting functions, while ensuring the integrity of protection and control systems. A strong commitment to safety for self and others, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence is essential in all aspects of this role.
