Job summary

Worley is seeking an electrical design drafter to work on HV/LV systems in a British Columbia context. The role involves drafting, reviewing sketches, developing layouts, and ensuring drawings meet client specifications and North American standards.

The candidate will oversee junior designers, participate in design reviews, and contribute to ensuring quality and timely delivery across projects in the energy sector.

Qualifications

• A Degree or Diploma in Design / Drafting.
• Experience with SPEL, AutoCAD and Microstation design software packages, AVEVA 2D/3D is a plus.
• 3D modeling experience.
• General electrical calculation in North American Environment ( North Americal standards- ratings – design standards).
• Familiarity and knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code ( NEC- American equivalent od CEC is ok as well).
• Design of MV and LV MCC’s.
• Design of MV and LV power system and network.
• Design of cable trays.
• Design of lighting systems.
• Grounding system design.
• Knowledge of North American brands ( major players in the market).
• E-house / E-room Layout design.
• Electrical Heat tracing system.
• PLC+ DCS design.
• Control panel and control circuit design.

Responsibilities

• The ability to work within a team environment with minimal supervision.
• Performs drafting assignments using established techniques and standards.
• Oversee the preparation of design and detail drawings from sketches or data.
• Design and drafting of HV and LV electrical installations.
• Direct the work of junior designers to meet client requirements and project specs.
• Participate in design reviews with clients and advise on technical design and drafting issues.
• Demonstrate track record of completing work within time and budget constraints.
• Develop layouts, plans, sections, elevations, and details from reference drawings or catalogs.
• Perform dimensional and routine calculations for drawings; maintain discipline documents.
• Adhere to Quality Assurance guidelines relevant to the project.

Responsibilities

• The ability to work within a team environment with a minimum of supervision and to Client, Company and Industry standards
• Performs moderately to difficult drafting assignments requiring a working knowledge of established drafting techniques, standards, practices and software. Understands and applies company procedures as they pertain to the electrical discipline.
• The proven ability to oversee the preparation of design and detail drawings from sketches, plans or other design / specification data
• Ability to take on responsibility for the design and drafting of HV and LV electrical installations
• Direct the work of junior designers and ensure the drawings are in accordance with the client requirements and relevant project specifications
• Have the experience to participate in design review with various clients and to advise on technical design and drafting issues and compliance requirements as appropriate
• Be able to demonstrate a proven track record of completing a given work scope within time and budget constraints
• Develop layouts, plans, sections, elevations, and details for facilities, equipment, etc. from reference drawings or catalogues and makes routine calculations.
• Performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings. Records and files electrical discipline documents.
• Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the project, etc.

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $120,802 to $138,922.

Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
