Job summary

Worley in Vancouver is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Electrical Designer to join our team. You will draft and detail electrical systems for HV/LV installations, lead junior designers, and ensure compliance with client specifications in a fast-paced project environment.

The role requires experience with SPEL, AutoCAD, Microstation, and AVEVA; knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code and North American standards is essential. A degree or diploma in Design/Drafting is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a Degree or Diploma in Design/Drafting.
• Experience with SPEL, AutoCAD and Microstation; AVEVA 2D/3D is a plus.
• 3D modeling experience.
• Knowledge of North American electrical design standards and calculations.
• Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC/NEC equivalent).
• Design of MV/LV MCCs and power systems.
• Knowledge of cable trays and lighting systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform drafting assignments with minimal supervision using established standards.
• Oversee preparation of design and detail drawings from sketches and specifications.
• Lead the design of HV/LV electrical installations and mentor junior designers.

Responsibilities:

• The ability to work within a team environment with a minimum of supervision and to Client, Company and Industry standards
• Performs moderately to difficult drafting assignments requiring a working knowledge of established drafting techniques, standards, practices and software. Understands and applies company procedures as they pertain to the electrical discipline.
• The proven ability to oversee the preparation of design and detail drawings from sketches, plans or other design / specification data
• Ability to take on responsibility for the design and drafting of HV and LV electrical installations
• Direct the work of junior designers and ensure the drawings are in accordance with the client requirements and relevant project specifications
• Have the experience to participate in design review with various clients and to advise on technical design and drafting issues and compliance requirements as appropriate
• Be able to demonstrate a proven track record of completing a given work scope within time and budget constraints
• Develop layouts, plans, sections, elevations, and details for facilities, equipment, etc. from reference drawings or catalogues and makes routine calculations.
• Performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings. Records and files electrical discipline documents.
• Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the project, etc.
  

Qualifications:

• A Degree or Diploma in Design / Drafting
• Experience with SPEL, AutoCAD and Microstation design software packages, AVEVA 2D/3D is a plus
• 3D modeling experience
• General electrical calculation in North American Environment ( North Americal standards- ratings – design standards)
• Familiarity and knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code ( NEC- American equivalent od CEC is ok as well)
• Design of MV and LV MCC’s
• Design of MV and LV power system and network
• Design of cable trays
• Design of lighting systems
• Knowledge of North American brands ( major players in the market
• Electrical Heat tracing system
• Control panel and control circuit design

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $120,802 to $138,922.
Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
