POSITION OVERVIEW :

Pitcher & Doyle is hiring a Senior Commercial Underwriter to develop profitable, long-term accounts and broker relationships for a National Dealership program by assessing risk eligibility and negotiating appropriate pricing and terms for new business and renewals.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Provide technical underwriting expertise for your portfolio of dealership accounts including property, casualty, garage, and specialty lines of business.
  • Work for a national MGA, accept risks on behalf of the insurer within established authority levels.
  • Analyze and evaluate results for your national portfolio to meet profit and growth goals.
  • Work in a team environment, providing exceptional service to your assigned brokers and their portfolios.
  • Mentor junior underwriting staff to aid in their career development.
  • Communicate results, issues, industry trends, and business opportunities to management.
  • Build strong relationships with key brokers to generate new business.
  • Support special projects and other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS :
  • University / College degree
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial underwriting experience
  • CIP designation or working towards completion
  • CRM, FCIP is an asset
  • In-depth technical knowledge and experience in property, casualty, and garage automobile lines of business
  • Exceptional knowledge of commercial underwriting principles, concepts, and methodologies
  • Extensive knowledge of regional commercial rates and pricing to attract target business across Canada
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Applied EPIC
  • Superior customer service skills and business acumen
