Arcadis in the GTA is seeking an Intermediate Roadway Design Engineer to deliver detailed transportation designs for municipal roads, highways, and LRT/BRT corridors. The role requires 4–6 years of transportation design experience, P.Eng. status or progression toward licensure, and strong knowledge of TAC/OMMA/MTO standards.
We are seeking an Intermediate Roadway Design Engineer to join our dynamic roadway team in the GTA. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in roadway and transit corridor design, excellent communication, and proven experience delivering detailed engineering projects. This position is primarily focused on the geometric design, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to create innovative, sustainable mobility solutions.
In this role, you will deliver detailed designs for transportation infrastructure projects, including municipal roads, highways, LRT/BRT corridors, and active transportation facilities. You will develop engineering drawings and models using tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D, ensuring designs are practical, accurate, and aligned with project requirements.
You will prepare and review design documents, construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for roadways, intersections, and transit facilities. Working closely with other engineering disciplines, you will coordinate and integrate utility, drainage, and grading designs to support well‑coordinated, constructible project outcomes.
Your work will ensure designs comply with applicable standards and guidelines, including TAC, Ontario Traffic Manuals, and MTO requirements. You will perform quality checks for technical accuracy and completeness prior to submittal, helping maintain high standards across all deliverables.
As part of the project team, you will support the preparation of tender packages and respond to contractor inquiries during construction. You will also mentor junior staff in design tasks and technical best practices, maintain effective communication with clients, attend design meetings, and deliver technical presentations when required.
The salary range for this position is $80,080 - $120,100. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
