Project Manager / Leader - Intermediate
Responsibilities :
- Provide project management for large-scale, complex, high-profile, and high-risk projects related to OPS I&IT initiatives.
- Ensure project deliverables meet clients' business requirements on time, within scope and budget, focusing on cost-effectiveness, efficiencies, and compliance with OPS project management methodologies and frameworks.
General Skills :
- Lead organizational development, strategy development, business planning, and Ministry funding requests.
- Gather and develop requirements to create and maintain detailed project schedules and integrated plans.
- Monitor and forecast project costs, providing reports and insights to meet targets.
- Develop and manage project schedules, deliverables, and scope.
- Promote I&IT project management best practices and adherence to standard methodologies.
- Direct project teams to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes, complying with government and ministry standards.
- Coordinate and monitor project processes, developing and communicating guidelines and procedures.
- Source, select, and onboard team members across disciplines, clarifying roles and expectations for both unionized employees and FFS consultants.
- Resolve resourcing and interpersonal conflicts, negotiate changes, and share knowledge among team members.
- Develop complex budgets considering multiple funding channels and cross-ministry dependencies.
- Manage large project budgets with high fiscal control and accountability, including estimates, forecasts, and reconciliation.
- Identify potential risks proactively and develop mitigation strategies.
- Communicate issues and risks to senior executives, recommending mitigation strategies.
- Participate in steering committees and stakeholder forums, providing comprehensive project and program reports to senior stakeholders.
- Implement strategies to overcome resistance to change and support change management throughout project phases.
- Promote OPS I&IT standards and best practices for project management to ensure quality and resource control.
Desirable Skills :
- Knowledge of PMI's Project Management Body of Knowledge.
- Understanding of Information Management principles, policies, and practices.
- Familiarity with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) regulations and standards.
- Ability to recommend software, hardware, and technology acquisitions.
- Experience in project monitoring, issue troubleshooting, and providing ongoing expertise.
- Ability to identify and resolve conflicts between project and functional areas.
- Client relationship management skills to manage expectations and provide updates.
Must Haves :
- At least 4 years' experience leading pragmatic and actionable agile projects using Scrum and Kanban.
- At least 6 years' experience in monitoring and forecasting project costs, and managing project schedules, deliverables, and scope.
- Extensive experience coordinating, ensuring, and monitoring compliance with project processes and guidelines.
