WHAT WILL YOU DO?

The Intermediate Product Engineering Designer plays a key role in supporting the development, improvement, and maintenance of Masco Canada’s product designs. This role is responsible for creating detailed 3D models and engineering drawings, supporting product development initiatives, and ensuring designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability standards. Working closely with engineers and cross-functional teams, the designer contributes to new product launches, value engineering efforts, and continuous improvement projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create and revise 3D models and engineering drawings for new and existing products
  • Support product development initiatives, including new product launches and design improvements
  • Ensure all designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability standards
  • Participate in value engineering and cost reduction efforts
  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with project goals
  • Maintain and update design documentation in accordance with internal standards and processes
  • Assist in prototyping, testing, and validation of new product designs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design tools, standards, and processes
HEALTH & SAFETY
  • Maintain a safe workplace
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required on the shop floor
  • Comply with company policies and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
  • Follow safe work and lockout/tagout procedures as required
  • Report unsafe conditions as soon as possible
Critical Experience & Competencies
  • 3–5 years of experience in a product design or engineering drafting role
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Design, or a related technical field
  • Strong CAD skills with the ability to create accurate, manufacturable designs
  • Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM), materials, and production processes
  • Detail-oriented, with a high level of accuracy in technical documentation
  • Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot design issues
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional project teams
  • Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities
  • Continuous improvement mindset, always seeking ways to enhance design efficiency and quality
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and engineering drawing standards
