Job summary

JNE Consulting Ltd. in Hamilton, Ontario is seeking an Intermediate Piping Engineer P.Eng. to join our Hamilton office. The successful candidate will execute HVAC and building services piping projects in industrial settings.

Responsibilities include developing process flow sheets, detailing layouts, and performing critical calculations. Hybrid work arrangement is available after onboarding, with a strong emphasis on safety and project execution.

Qualifications

• P.Eng. licensure (Canadian) is mandatory.
• Engineering degree from a recognized university.
• 5+ years of piping engineering experience.
• Knowledge of additional engineering disciplines is a plus.
• Familiarity with AFT Fathom/Arrow for piping analysis.
• Experience applying CSA B149.1, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3 and ASME BPVC in industrial settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead piping design projects from concept to construction.
• Develop process flow sheets and piping/equipment layouts.
• Approve flow sheet components, hardware and specifications.
• Perform calculations for sizing of pumps, heat exchangers, and pressure-controlling devices.
• Develop discipline manpower schedules and project budgets.
• Monitor scope changes and ensure quality standards.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an Intermediate Piping Engineer P.Eng. to join our Hamilton, Ontario office. The successful candidate will successfully execute HVAC and building services projects in industrial settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Successfully execute piping design projects.
• Develop process flow sheets and/or design piping and equipment layouts, coordinate general design approach.
• Approve flow sheet components, hardware and/or proprietary items.
• Perform and check engineering calculations for the sizing and selection of pumps, heat exchangers, and pressure controlling devices.
• Approve components and equipment and approve specifications generated by other team members.
• Suggest solutions to inconsistencies in design specifications or design requirements to Project Managers and initiate corrective action.
• Perform reviews and / or check critical design calculations, stamp drawings as required by legislation, standardization, policy, or customer requirement.
• Approve drawings and content.
• Approve overall approach to detailing.
• Approve required specifications for design package.
• Approve special reports, suggest unique solutions, participate in discussions with Sr. staff.
• Develop discipline manpower schedules.
• Develop project budgets, schedules and quality standards.
• Monitor changes in scope of work.

Qualifications And Education

• P.Eng. required (CDN).
• Engineering Degree, University Level.
• 5+ years relevant working experience.
• Knowledge of additional engineering discipline.
• Ability and desire to learn new software, applications, knowledge, and skills.
• Familiar with AFT Fathom/Arrow for analysis of piping systems.
• Experience applying CSA B149.1, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3 and ASME BPVC Section VIII in industrial settings.
• Steel/Mining Industry experience (asset).

Compensation

Base Salary: $90,000–$110,000 CAD annually, based on experience and qualifications.
