Position Overview
We are seeking an Intermediate Permitting Specialist for our Water Resource Group. The role can be based in our Vancouver offices or fully remote within BC. The ideal candidate will understand regulatory requirements, guidance, and permitting processes under BC mining, water, and environmental legislation (e.g., Mines Act, Environmental Management Act). You will leverage your experience to assist clients in meeting provincial requirements for mining and water projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice on local, provincial, and federal environmental requirements (regulations, policies, guidelines, standards).
  • Recommend permitting requirements, processes, and approaches.
  • Coordinate and integrate information from multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Review materials for regulatory submission adequacy.
  • Support meetings and presentations with clients and regulators/interest groups.
  • Ensure project compliance with schedules and budgets.
  • Manage project financial controls and reporting.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years supporting permitting and regulatory compliance for mining and/or water projects.
  • Undergraduate degree or higher in a relevant field and professional registration or eligibility.
  • Experience in project management from proposal to closure.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary projects, environmental impact assessments, permitting, and reporting.
  • Proven ability to work in large, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Adaptability to a dynamic consulting environment.
  • Valid driver’s license, experience driving pickup trucks, and ability to be added to our insurance policy.

Other Assets/Skills:

  • Technical training/experience in water or environmental science, mine water management, mitigations, and management plan development.
  • Experience engaging with Indigenous communities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for data and study design.
