Your Opportunity
Work as part of a team of engineers and technologists on multiple projects for public and private sector clients. This role suits a motivated, energetic individual eager to challenge their abilities in a dynamic environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.
- Assist in designing building-related mechanical systems including HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection, adhering to applicable codes and standards.
- Review equipment selections, perform preliminary calculations, and develop initial designs.
- Create mechanical design drawings in REVIT and AutoCAD.
- Follow production guidelines and project standards.
- Collaborate with the Lead Designer and Mechanical Team to optimize project tools and resolve issues.
- Ensure quality, consistency, and integrity in electronic deliverables.
- Assist with construction administration tasks such as site instruction documentation or change requests.
- Incorporate site, contractor, 3D scan, and existing drawing data to produce as-built drawings.
- Perform quality control on construction documents.
- Contribute as a team member within a multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate effectively with team members and adhere to Stantec standards to meet project deadlines.
- Follow Stantec's quality control and HSS&E policies.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Ability to collaborate on large, complex projects and independently on smaller ones.
- Effective communication skills in English.
- Problem-solving skills with sound professional judgment and creativity.
- Fundamental knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Familiarity with building codes, energy standards, and construction documentation.
- Experience translating system concepts into technical drawings.
- Knowledge of LEED, ASHRAE, ASPE, NFPA standards is advantageous.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
- Self-motivated with strong work ethic and time management skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of quality control and safety guidelines.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a team setting.
- Location preference for Canada, with options for remote work near a Stantec office.
Education and Experience
- Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Five years of relevant work experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is an asset.
- Eligibility for CTTAM or EGM accreditation required.
- Ability to work in Canada preferred.
