Agilus is recruiting for an Intermediate Mechanical Designer in the industrial automation industry in Oakville, Ontario.
The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for delivering mechanical designs for systems based on project and customer requirements.
A typical day:
- Design systems, machinery, products, and tools using SolidWorks.
- Perform engineering calculations and analysis related to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc.
- Produce working drawings including detail drawings and bills of materials (BOMs), based on input from various stakeholders.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly staff to implement designed equipment.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop, design, and deliver custom systems, machinery, and tooling.
- Ensure project milestones, schedules, and budgets are met, and maintain up-to-date project documentation.
Successful candidates will have:
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in industrial or mechanical engineering or related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant industry experience designing complex systems, machines, products, or tooling.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, both 3D and 2D CAD software.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles including kinematics, force analysis, pneumatics, hydraulics, manufacturing techniques, materials, and standard components.
- Strong communication skills for issuing sketches and instructions.
- Ability to work positively in a high-paced environment.
- Nuclear project experience is preferred, including knowledge of radiation shielding, hot cell and isolator design, GMP requirements, filtration systems, and radiopharmaceutical processes.
