This is a remote opportunity available to Canadian Residents who want to join a Mainframe Development team at BMO. The role requires understanding core business processes, architecture patterns, and technology strategies (e.g., Mainframe Modernization, Transformation, DevOps). The individual will design, document, and develop software, ensuring adherence to security, logging, error handling, performance, and non-functional standards. They will work within the software development lifecycle, aligning with enterprise architecture and evaluating new technologies for their impact on the system and organization.

Accountabilities

1. Understand BMO's Mainframe environment and advocate for mainframe technologies.
2. Stay updated on industry trends through professional development.
3. Become an expert on BMO’s Personal Lending and Mortgage business plans, collaborating with technology teams and business partners.
4. Assess design impacts on performance, schedule, budget, quality, and downstream systems, recommending solutions.
5. Evaluate costs and benefits of solutions and decide on appropriate designs.
6. Share expertise, mentor employees, and build communities of practice.
7. Develop new algorithms and data structures aligned with architectural patterns.
8. Automate and streamline technological processes for operational efficiency.
9. Diagnose and resolve problems, building supportable and scalable solutions.
10. Build relationships with stakeholders and ensure alignment.
11. Define and analyze requirements with business and technology stakeholders.
12. Identify emerging issues and trends for informed decision-making.
13. Conduct independent analysis to resolve strategic issues.
14. Monitor code and application performance, addressing issues proactively.
15. Provide specialized consulting and technical support.

• Knowledge of software development practices and programming languages.
• Understanding of the technical/business environment and processes.
• Deep knowledge gained through extensive education and experience.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and influence skills.
• Data-driven decision-making skills.

Salary

$60,000.00 - $111,700.00
