Job summary

BMO is seeking an experienced mainframe developer to design, test, and implement COBOL-based applications aligned with security, performance, and resilience standards. You will translate business needs into detailed technical specifications and ensure compliance with enterprise guidelines.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, review code, mentor teammates, and drive continuous improvement across z/OS, CICS, DB2, and related tools.

Qualifications

• Typically 3–5 years of mainframe development experience or equivalent education.
• Strong experience with COBOL, CICS, PL/1, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
• Familiarity with EASYTRIEVE and FOCUS.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, z/OS, and ServiceNow.
• Exposure to AI technologies and mainframe modernization is a strong asset.

Salary

Pay Type: Salaried

The above represents the company’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents the company’s expected target for the first year in this position.

The company’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
