Job summary

Tri Innovations is seeking an Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer in Calgary. The role focuses on field instrumentation, control system design, and developing procurement packages for projects across North America.

You will collaborate with a team to deliver high-quality engineering work and support commissioning on site as needed. The position requires 5+ years in I&C/Automation, involvement in FEED and detailed design, and eligibility for Alberta professional registration.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years working specifically within the I&C/Automation engineering discipline.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate effectively.
  • Willingness for field work (10-20%).

Responsibilities

  • Field instrumentation and control system design and control strategy development.
  • Prepare technical documentation for projects (P&IDs, datasheets, wiring diagrams).
  • Procurement package development and management for instrumentation and control systems.
  • Review shop drawings for conformity with designs.
  • Assist field engineering and commissioning on site as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Field instrumentation and control system design and control strategy development
  • Prepare technical documentation required for the execution of projects, including but not limited to: standard specifications, design criteria, P&IDs, schematics, loop drawings, instrument datasheets, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, installation details, control narratives, network diagrams, cable schedule, instrument list, equipment list
  • Development and management of instrumentation and control system procurement packages
  • Review shop drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budgets for control and automation work on projects
  • Assist in field engineering and commissioning on site as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registered with or eligible for registration with APEGA as a P.Eng, P.L. Eng, or P. Tech. (Eng)
  • 5+ years working specifically within the I&C/Automation engineering discipline
  • Some project engineering experience is considered an asset
  • Previous experience with both the FEED and detailed design processes is considered an asset
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team (office is very team based, so collaboration is key)
  • Be available for field work as needed (10-20%)
  • Candidates must have relevant experience to the Albertan and broader Canadian oil and gas industry.
