A leading company is seeking an Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for a fully on-site role in Mississauga, ON. The successful candidate will provide engineering services, project support, and ensure quality in the refinery environment. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in oil & gas projects and strong capabilities with instrumentation specifications.

Qualifications

  • Previous oil & gas project experience is required.
  • Familiarity with Shell, Suncor, and Nova standards.
  • Competent use of instrument calculation/selection specific software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform instrumentation engineering services including preparing estimates and assisting in procurement.
  • Provide construction management support and liaise with clients and vendors.

Purpose:

We are currently looking for an Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer. The position is fully on-site in Mississauga, ON, and the candidate must be able to get to the site and work completely on-site. Site Refinery experience is desired.

  • PerformInstrumentation engineering services such as:
    • identify and report changes to project scope
    • assist with the preparation of proposals, estimates, budgets, and schedules
    • provide assistance during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities. For example, write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations, and write purchase orders
    • contribute to appropriate studies, analyses, and recommend actions
    • assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations, and reports.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions.
  • Provide construction management support for clients as required.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, engineers, and other disciplines.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required
  • Ability to interpret client specifications.
  • Coordinate/Communicate with other disciplines
  • Familiarity of applicable codes and standards to support engineering deliverables
  • Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Worley Quality Assurance system

Professional Experience:

  • Previous oil & gas project experience is required and experience working on a refinery site is an asset.
  • Familiar with digital tools, digitization and data acquisition experience are an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Instrumentation & Control deliverables such as: Panel (JB and Marshalling) Design, P&ID's, Loop Drawings, Wiring Drawings, Motor Control Schematics, Instrument Location Drawings, Instrument Installation Details, Instrument Specifications (Datasheets), I/O Lists, Bill of Materials, Conduit/Tray/Cable Schedules, Control Narratives, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Material Requisitions, Construction or Engineering Work Packages.
  • Working knowledge of Instrumentation Calculation/Selection, such as: Flow (Orifice Plates, Vortex, Venturi, Magnetic, Ultrasonic meters), Level Measurement, (Radar, Displacers, Gauges), Temperature (including Thermowells Freq. wake calculation), Pressure, Process Analysers and sampling systems would be an asset.
  • Competent use of instrument calculation/selection specific software.
  • Working knowledge (design/configuration/implementation) of any of the following systems: PLCs, preferable Modicon, GE or Rockwell, SISs, preferable Triconex, DCS, preferably Honeywell TDC/TPS/Experion, Foxboro I/A, ABBxA.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards and codes related to Instrumentation & Control system deliverables.
  • Experience in working on multiple small projects concurrently.
  • Familiarity with Shell, Suncor and Nova standards.
  • Basic knowledge of SmartPlant Instrumentation software.
  • Basic knowledge of Communications Networks.
  • Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.

Required:

  • Post-Secondary Education in a field related to Instrumentation & Control.
