AWC Controls / Automation Division Job Description
AWC specializes in providing integrated water, wastewater treatment plants, and many other specialized industrial packaged solutions. We offer clients advanced in-house engineering & design with 3D modeling, piloting, fabrication, and machining, in-house control panel shop, and a full range of field services, allowing us to provide turn-key solutions.
As our company and backlog expand, we are seeking qualified candidates to fill an intermediate position in our Controls / Automation Division. The successful candidate will demonstrate technical experience in industrial control systems and hands-on experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop control system design from initial concept to field instrumentation.
- Procure customer requirements and specifications.
- Evaluate control strategies and their suitability for industrial processes with P&ID diagrams.
- Review I&C documentation such as Control Narrative, RATS List, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Serial Interface Lists.
- Design and implement multi-loop control systems.
- Program PLCs and calibrate field devices.
- Create intuitive HMI display graphics and configurations.
- Develop SCADA / RTU applications, including historian/trending and reporting features.
- Configure and troubleshoot industrial network components.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing before equipment shipment.
- Assist in field commissioning and operation of water and wastewater systems.
- Willingness to travel for field support (less than 20% of time).
- Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders (engineering, fabrication, CAD, consultants, suppliers).
- Provide exceptional service to clients and on-site partners (General Contractors, end users).
- Offer remote technical support to clients and site operators.
- Mentor junior staff members.
Qualifications:
- Several years of experience in automation and instrumentation.
- Experience in water/wastewater treatment plants and industrial process packages is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in Automation & Instrumentation.
- Proven experience in PLC programming and field service support.
- Experience with PLCs, preferably Rockwell ControlLogix and CompactLogix.
- Knowledge of HMIs, preferably FactoryTalk View Studio.
- Understanding of SCADA systems, VFDs, and industrial communication networks.
