Role Overview

As an Intermediate Group Underwriter, you will collaborate with the Group Underwriting team to help Medavie Blue Cross meet its financial targets on the group health, life, and disability income lines of business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Establish renewal pricing by analyzing experience/trends, justifying renewal decisions, and recommending pricing adjustments. Respond to client inquiries regarding pricing and experience.
2. Set rates for new group business and address financial questions within specified guidelines.
3. Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups in accordance with financial agreements.
4. Draft and update financial agreements.
5. Ensure underwriting targets for growth and profitability are met.
6. Develop and maintain relationships with clients and producers.
7. Coordinate with internal teams such as sales, case management, and administration, as well as with agents, brokers, consultants, and policyholders.

Qualifications

• Education: Post-secondary education
• Work Experience: Minimum of four years in Group Underwriting
• Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
• Language Skills: Bilingualism in French and English is an asset
• Other Qualifications: Ability to work in a team, strong communication skills, self-motivated, excellent judgment, strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, effective time management, and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
