We are seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing Geotechnics team in Western Canada (based in Vancouver). In this role you will work under the direction of senior technical leads and project managers, contributing to the investigation, analysis, design and delivery of multi-discipline infrastructure projects spanning roads, transit, ports and marine sectors. You will gain exposure to large-scale assignments while learning and advancing your technical and consulting capabilities.
This role offers the chance to work with a high-performing team, mentor junior staff, build strong client relationships and leverage Arcadis’s national and global resources and expertise.
In this role, you will assist in planning and executing geotechnical site investigations, overseeing activities such as mobilization, field data collection, subcontractor coordination, and diligent logging of geotechnical data. You will be responsible for conducting engineering analyses and design work under supervision, supporting a range of projects involving foundation systems, retaining structures, slopes and embankments, excavations and tunnels, as well as ground improvement measures.
You will interpret soil, rock, and groundwater conditions, leveraging your findings to produce reliable geotechnical recommendations and parameters that inform both design and construction phases. Additionally, you will prepare and review a variety of technical deliverables, including geotechnical interpretative reports, design reports, technical memoranda, calculations, drawings, and cost estimates. Providing construction support services will also be a key aspect of the role, requiring you to review contractor submissions, conduct site observations, assess changed conditions, and collaborate closely with construction teams and clients.
Participation in multi-discipline project teams will be an important part of your responsibilities, where you will help support scope, schedule, and budget activities, and coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines and internal teams. You will contribute to client engagements by assisting in proposal development, work-planning, budgeting, and preparing submission materials to ensure successful project delivery.
Furthermore, in this role you will support mentoring and knowledge sharing with junior engineers and technologists, encouraging technical growth and fostering a collaborative learning environment. You will be expected to stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, relevant codes, and digital delivery methods, actively contributing to process improvements within the Geotechnics practice.
