Job summary

Geopacific Consultants Ltd. seeks an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer in Training to join our Vancouver team. The role emphasizes ownership from kickoff to completion, coordinating scope, schedules, budgets, and client expectations with engineers, technicians, and management.

The ideal candidate will have EGBC-EIT eligibility, a geotechnical/civil engineering degree, and strong reporting, communication, and organizational skills for multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Enrollment or eligibility to enroll with EGBC as an Engineer-In-Training
• Degree in geological or civil engineering
• Canadian driver’s license and a personal vehicle
• Solid understanding of soil mechanics and soil classification
• Minimum 2 years of geotechnical experience and materials testing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Experience with geotechnical software such as Slope/W and Plaxis

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer in Training (EIT) to join a dynamic Engineering team at our Vancouver office. This role offers a unique opportunity for young professionals to embark on a fulfilling career path with ample room for growth and professional development.

We are looking for a motivated and organized EIT who is ready to take ownership of projects from kickoff through completion, while effectively managing scope, schedules, budgets, and competing priorities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with clients, contractors, and internal technical teams, building strong working relationships and ensuring expectations and deliverables remain aligned throughout a project. They should demonstrate sound commercial awareness, including an understanding of project financials, contractual requirements, and risk management. Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail are essential, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while ensuring commitments are met and nothing falls through the cracks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting site investigations, construction reviews and inspections

The successful candidate will be working closely with the Company's engineering staff and management group, as well as clients and contractors. This position is based in our Vancouver office with occasional travel as required.

Qualifications and requirements:

• Enrollment or eligibility to enroll with EGBC as an Engineer-In-Training
• A Degree in geological or civil engineering
• A valid Canadian driver’s license and a personal vehicle
• A solid understanding of soil mechanics and soil classification
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering and materials testing
• Fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
