Apex Systems is a global IT services provider, and our staffing practice has an opening for a Full Stack Developer with Angular, Java, Python and AWS experience to place at our client, a Big Five Bank.
Terms: 6 Month Contract
Location: Hybrid, Downtown Toronto – 1-2 days in Office

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Full Stack Systems Software Engineer with a strong background in the banking industry, specifically in Customer Onboarding and Implementation. This role requires deep expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies, leadership capabilities, and a strategic mindset for simplifying and optimizing software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working in structured environments using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and mentor a small team of developers, providing technical guidance and oversight.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable software systems across both front-end and back-end components.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate hardware-software interfaces and define system specifications and performance requirements.
• Simplify and optimize software solutions to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• Develop and execute comprehensive testing and validation procedures.
• Provide technical support and perform maintenance of existing software systems.
• Communicate project status, proposals, and technical issues to stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Direct software programming efforts and oversee the creation of technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level and application-level issues.
• Apply domain expertise in banking, particularly in Customer Onboarding workflows and implementation processes, to ensure solutions align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: Relevant experience in software development, including full stack development and team leadership.
• Domain Expertise: Demonstrated experience in the banking sector, with a focus on Customer Onboarding and Implementation.
Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Ability to code independently with minimal oversight and deep understanding of the development ecosystem.
