PRI is seeking an Intermediate Field Technician to join our field services team in Peterborough, ON. You will work on-site across diverse projects—collecting field data, performing tests, and supporting engineering and environmental teams from planning through close-out.

You should have 2–4 years of relevant field experience (including 1–2 years in solar field work), a technical diploma in a related field, and a valid driver's license for travel between sites.

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of field experience in engineering, environmental, or construction-materials settings plus 1–2 years in solar field work.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean abstract and willingness to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field data collection, sampling, testing, and inspections per project specs and standards.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain field testing and monitoring equipment.
  • Prepare clear field notes, logs, and reports to support engineering and client deliverables.
  • Coordinate day-to-day field logistics and report progress and site conditions to project staff.
  • Mentor junior field technicians on-site.
  • Follow health and safety policies and site-specific safety plans; identify hazards.
  • Travel to project sites as required, including occasional overnight stays.

INTERMEDIATE FIELD TECHNICIAN

The Opportunity

We're looking for an Intermediate Field Technician to join our field services team. You'll work on-site across a variety of projects — collecting field data, performing tests and inspections, and supporting engineering and environmental teams from planning through project close-out. This role suits someone with a few years of hands‑on field experience who is ready to take on more independent assignments and mentor junior technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field data collection, sampling, testing, and inspections in accordance with project specifications and applicable standards.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain field testing and monitoring equipment.
  • Prepare clear, accurate field notes, logs, and reports to support engineering and client deliverables.
  • Coordinate day-to-day field logistics and communicate progress, issues, and site conditions to project staff.
  • Support and mentor junior field technicians on-site.
  • Follow all PRI health and safety policies and site-specific safety plans; identify and report hazards.
  • Travel to project sites as required, including occasional overnight stays.
What You Bring
  • Technical diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology, or a related field (or equivalent field experience).
  • 2–4 years of relevant field experience in an engineering, environmental, or construction-materials setting as well as 1-2 years of relevant solar field experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract; comfortable with regular travel between sites.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate, organized record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently outdoors in variable weather and site conditions.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
Assets
  • Standard First Aid / CPR, H2S Alive, and/or OFA certification.
  • Nuclear density gauge certification (e.g., ARDOT 461 or AASHTO T 310).
  • Experience with construction materials testing, geotechnical field work, or environmental monitoring.
