Job summary

PRI Engineering Corp. in Vancouver and Calgary seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer. This hands-on role leads projects end to end, you will seal your own work, and mentor engineers and technologists around you.

You will tackle seismic assessments, dam and tailings facilities, land development, buildings, and transportation infrastructure, with travel to project sites as needed. Strong EGBC registration and at least eight years of experience are required; experience with GeoStudio, PLAXIS, and

Qualifications

• P.Eng registered with EGBC or eligible for BC/AB registration.
• Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering with geotechnical specialization; graduate degree is an asset.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive geotechnical consulting experience, leading and sealing projects.
• Demonstrated seismic experience: site classification, liquefaction assessment/mitigation, seismic design parameters under BC Building Code.
• Dam or tailings experience is a strong asset, including dam safety work and seepage analysis.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Settle3, PLAXIS, LPile, or gINT.
• Strong technical writing, client communication, and project management ability.
• Class 5 BC driver's license; willingness to travel to project/minesites, including remote work.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical projects from scoping and site investigation through analysis, design, reporting, and construction support.
• Direct design of foundations, settlement, slope stability, retaining and shoring systems, earthworks, and ground improvement.
• Lead seismic assessment, including site classification, liquefaction triggering and mitigation, seismic slope stability, and seismic design parameters.
• Provide geotechnical leadership on dams and tailings storage facilities, including Dam Safety Review input, stability and seepage analysis, and instrumentation review.
• Plan and direct site investigations, and interpret field and laboratory data into practical, constructible recommendations.
• Take professional responsibility for your work, sealing reports, designs, and field reviews under EGBC practice requirements.
• Manage scope, budget, schedule, and fees, and mentor intermediate engineers, EITs, and technologists.

SENIOR GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER

About The Role

PRI is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing Vancouver & Calgary offices. This is a hands‑on senior role: you will lead projects end to end, seal your own work, and mentor the engineers and technologists around you.

The work spans land development, buildings, municipal and transportation infrastructure, and mining, including dams and tailings storage facilities. Seismic assessment is central to the role, as it is to any consequential geotechnical work in this region.
