Job summary

360 Engineering & Environmental Consulting seeks an Intermediate Environmental Scientist to lead regulatory approvals and environmental planning projects in Calgary/Edmonton, Alberta. You will coordinate cross-disciplinary teams and manage scope, budgets, and client relationships, driving successful regulatory submissions and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional designation (or eligibility).
  • 5+ years in environmental consulting or resource development or equivalent.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Strong demonstrated experience in upstream, midstream, downstream oil and gas, mining, commercial development and land development projects.
  • Strong understanding of Western Canadian regulatory frameworks and permitting processes.
  • Strong team player who collaborates across disciplines and shares knowledge.
  • Having a good sense of humour and strong admiration of our Mullet Culture is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and coordination of regulatory approval applications, including Directive 056, EPEA, Water Act, Public Lands Act, Fisheries Act, and other provincial and federal permits.
  • Monitor regulatory changes to advise project teams on compliance risks and timelines.
  • Manage environmental planning and permitting projects from proposal through completion.
  • Oversee ESAs, EIAs, BIAs, and baseline studies.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Maintain strong client relationships as the primary contact during delivery.
  • Support Indigenous engagement, stakeholder consultation, and regulatory agency communications.
  • Prepare proposals, develop work plans, and contribute to business development.

We're looking for a collaborative, driven professional with a deep understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes, based in Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta.In this role, you will lead environmental planning, permitting, and regulatory approval projects for energy, infrastructure, and resource development clients. You will have the opportunity to develop your project management skills by supporting the management of project scope, budgets, schedules, and client relationships. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, regulators, and stakeholders, you will guide projects through municipal, provincial, territorial, and federal permitting and regulatory processes.The ideal candidate has experience in environmental consulting and project management experience, with expertise in environmental planning, regulatory permitting, and environmental assessments. Strong communication, leadership, and client management skills are essential, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality work and practical solutions.Make a Difference

Lead the preparation and coordination of regulatory approval applications, including Directive 056, EPEA, Water Act, Public Lands Act, Fisheries Act, and other provincial and federal permits.Monitor and analyze evolving regulatory changes to advise project teams on compliance risks and strategic timelines.Manage environmental planning and permitting projects from proposal through successful completion.Oversee environmental assessments, including Phase I, II, and III Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Biophysical Impact Assessments (BIAs), and baseline studies.Coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams to deliver projects on scope, on schedule, and within budget.Build and maintain strong client relationships while serving as the primary point of contact throughout project delivery.Support Indigenous engagement, stakeholder consultation, and regulatory agency communications.Prepare proposals, develop work plans, and contribute to business development initiatives.

Mentor and support junior and intermediate staff through technical guidance and project leadership.

Ensure projects meet quality, safety, and regulatory compliance standardLead and champion a culture of excellence, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of health, safety, and quality across all areas of operation.
