As an Intermediate Environmental Scientist/Technologist you will join our Calgary, AB or Edmonton, AB team as part of our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation and Monitoring (ARRM) team.

The successful applicant will be 100% office-based and involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:

  • Active participation in maintaining Montrose’s strong safety culture

  • Act as a leader in the workplace using Montrose Standard Operating Safety and Technical Procedures

  • Manage simple to moderately complex project scopes, schedules and budgets

  • Coordinate with internal project teams across disciplines to facilitate delivery of high-quality products to meet our clients’ unique project needs

  • Communicate with clients and project related stakeholders on technical and project management scopes

  • Prepare technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, and cost estimates

  • Prepare technical reports with a primary focus on liability assessments

  • Function effectively within and contribute to the success of a collaborative team

  • Proactively engage and participate in development opportunities to support your career growth

  • Mentor and develop junior staff members

What We Are Looking For

  • A degree or technical diploma in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology or engineering

  • A minimum of four (4) years’ previous environmental or project management experience

  • Eligibility for registration in or maintaining a good standing in a professional organization

  • Self-motivated and possess strong communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Experience with estimating costs and leading site assessment and remediation programs in the Oil & Gas industry

  • Experience writing technical reports including site-specific liability assessments

  • Knowledge of the Alberta liability regulatory framework including previous experience with Directives 001 and 011 would be considered an asset

  • Willingness to provide direction and mentorship to more junior professionals

  • Experience with Workday software would be an asset

  • A valid and clean driver’s license with no restrictions.

This is a permanent position with an hourly rate range of $31.73 - $42.82, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
