Typical Day at WSP as an Intermediate Environmental Scientist

  • Apply and expand your technical, client, and project delivery skills within a Canadian-based firm.
  • Identify project objectives clearly, and communicate your ideas and solutions to project managers, directors, and mentors.
  • Coordinate projects, including setting up field work programs, preparing instructions and safety plans, managing budgets and schedules, overseeing subcontractors, and maintaining project files.
  • Assist in data collection, compilation, interpretation, and reporting for environmental assessments, remediation, and site monitoring.
  • Grow your career through mentorship and diverse project experiences.
  • Participate in a client-specific delivery team of 10-20 members, leveraging the broader RPM group expertise.
  • Engage with Practice Area Networks (PAN) for complex technical issues, drawing on global experience.
  • Enjoy outdoor fieldwork in Western Canada (up to 40%).
  • Lead or contribute to challenging environmental projects in Western Canada.

Qualities and Qualifications

You are someone who :

  • Loves the outdoors but also thrives in an office environment (up to 60%).
  • Has excellent communication skills and is comfortable coordinating activities.
  • Enjoys mentoring and training junior staff in environmental assessments.
  • Has a passion for learning.

Qualifications include :

  • At least 3 years of experience in the environmental industry.
  • Experience related to the upstream oil and gas industry is an asset.
