Job summary

GHD in St. John’s, NL, seeks an Intermediate Environmental Professional – Scientist or Engineer to join our Contaminated Site Assessment and Remediation (CAR) Team. You will conduct ESAs (Phase I–IV) and support remediation projects across Atlantic Canada.

Requirements include a science/engineering degree, 5+ years in environmental consulting, strong regulatory knowledge, and solid report writing. Willingness to travel and collaborate with clients and regulators is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science or Engineering; P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation is an asset.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on environmental consulting experience focusing on ESAs and remediation.
  • Solid knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • Familiarity with FCSAP or similar federal frameworks is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and travel to client sites as needed.
  • Exceptional communication and technical writing skills.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.

Who are we looking for?

We are currently looking for an Intermediate Environmental Professional - Scientist or Engineers to join our Contaminated Site Assessment and Remediation (CAR) Team in our Atlantic Canada office location at St. John’s, NL.

  • Support the growth of the environmental practice in Eastern Canada.
What you will bring to the Team:
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science or Engineering. A P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation is considered a strong asset.
  • At least 5 years of hands‑on experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on ESAs and remediation projects.
  • Solid knowledge of both Provincial and Federal environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • Familiarity with the Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan (FCSAP) or similar federal frameworks is a significant advantage.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast‑paced consulting environment—juggling multiple projects, meeting tight deadlines, and traveling to client sites as needed.
  • Exceptional communication and technical writing skills.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Flexibility to work variable hours and travel to project sites across Atlantic Canada and occasionally beyond.
