THE OPPORTUNITY

Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking to fill an Intermediate Environmental Professional – Assessment and Reclamation Group position, based in our Triton Edmonton or Calgary, AB office location.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading soil and groundwater assessment field programs, mentoring junior staff, and providing technical support to project managers in the Assessment and Reclamation service line (who are based throughout Triton’s operating area).

Responsibilities include the following:

1. Leading phased environmental site assessment, remediation, and reclamation field programs (expect up to 60% of time to be field-based and sometimes in remote locations)
2. Contributing expertise to multi-disciplinary projects
3. Assisting in writing high-quality reports, cost estimates, and proposals
4. Liaising with clients, regulators, contractors, and sub-contractors
5. Leading field teams to ensure the quality, cost, and timeliness of deliverables
6. Providing mentorship and training for our junior environmental professionals
7. Ensuring clients’ and Triton’s safety standards are maintained or exceeded
8. Working collaboratively within Triton’s corporate culture

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

1. Undergraduate degree or diploma (B.Sc.) in soil science, environmental science, earth sciences, or related field
2. Registered or eligible for future registration with the AB Institute of Agrologists (AIA), Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB), or another relevant professional organization in Alberta or British Columbia
3. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in the environmental industry
4. Knowledge and experience with soil classification and mapping using the Canadian System of Soil Classification
5. Experience with Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments, soil sampling programs, groundwater monitoring programs, remediation, and reclamation
6. Experience with Alberta Provincial regulatory guidelines
7. Experience with regulatory guidelines in other jurisdictions (e.g., Federal, British Columbia, and/or Saskatchewan) is an asset
8. Excellent verbal communications skills
9. Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time management skills
10. Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
11. Valid Class 5 driver’s licence

SCHEDULE

This is a field-based position that will have a rotational field shift schedule. This position requires being able to work in remote and in outdoor field settings, for extended durations. Schedule details are subject to project client requirements. Some office work opportunity could be done as well, in conjunction with field work duties.

Depending upon hiring needs, project requirements, and specific hiring location, the role offered could be a permanent full-time role or a temporary contract role.
