POSITION: Intermediate Environmental Consultant

POSITION SUMMARY:
This role offers opportunities to support the reclamation group’s leadership and engagement in reclamation, remediation and monitoring projects related to oil and gas facilities, landfills, industrial land, and defence sites. Technical, organizational, and leadership skills are pivotal for this position. The project work is focused in Alberta and involves field-based activities, including travel to remote work sites.
The selected candidate will play a key role in implementing Ecoventure’s project delivery system to achieve the following strategic objectives: health and safety, client expectations for quality, schedule, and budget, financial performance for project-specific targets, operational performance, business unit expectations, and quality.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support in the following areas:
Technical
Work at an intermediate level under the supervision of a senior professional as needed, in Conservation and Reclamation projects based on area of expertise and career goals.
Participate in Conservation and Reclamation programs and Land Classification projects, including:
preparation of reclamation plans and cost estimates,
soil classification and mapping,
reclamation site inspections,
major and minor reclamation projects involving heavy equipment, and
aggressive vegetation and re-vegetation management programs
Complete Detailed Site Assessments (DSA) (landscape, soils & vegetation) and DSA Record of Observation (RoO);
Complete and conduct Pre-Disturbance Assessments and Soil Surveys;
Prepare Reclamation Certificate Applications, Acknowledgement of Reclamation and Certificate of Restoration packages;
Assist in Biological, Waterbody, Natural Site Assessments, Environmental Field Reports, Natural Area Management Plans, and Environmental Impact Assessments, as required;
Assist on Assessment and Remediation Projects as required; and,
Uphold Ecoventure’s Quality Management System,
Uphold Ecoventure’s strong commitment to the Health and Safety Program, and
Represent Ecoventure in conferences and industry seminars and liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
The individual’s strengths, experience, and preferences will be considered and allocated appropriately.
THE INDIVIDUAL:
The successful candidate should possess the following competencies and experience:
Post-secondary education in natural resources management or environmental sciences.
Currently hold or working towards a professional designation as P. Ag, R.T.Ag, P. Geo, P. Eng, or P. Biol.
4 to 8+ years of practical experience executing reclamation in Canada’s oil and gas industry.
Demonstrated experience managing conservation and reclamation projects from planning through execution, including budgeting, scheduling, coordinating field teams, subcontractors, and ensuring deliverables meet regulatory and client requirements.
Ability to manage multiple field-based reclamation projects, including logistics planning, team supervision, and data quality assurance.
Experienced in coordinating technical reporting and ensuring timely submissions in accordance with environmental regulations and project scopes.
Must be proficient in soil classification, mapping, and monitoring/handling during construction operations
Strong vegetation identification skills, and understanding of vegetation establishment, control methods and prescription/implementation.
Willing to participate in extensive fieldwork programs throughout the summer, including weekends and holidays.
Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, leadership, and conflict management skills; assisting in coordinating, analyzing, and synthesizing information to develop innovative solutions to problems while collaborating with others and providing advice.
Strong understanding of computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and GIS Software.
Excellent attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills.
This position requires H2S, First Aid and CPR, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance Level II, ATV Training, and a clean driving record.
