Job summary

Kraken Robotic Systems Inc. in Mount Pearl, NL seeks an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to contribute to mission-critical electronics for deep-sea technologies.

You will join a growing engineering team, reporting to the Engineering Manager, and work on power, embedded control and sensing across prototype to production stages. This role offers hybrid work within Canada, potential relocation to Mount Pearl after onboarding, and opportunities for professional development including P.Eng support

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in electrical engineering.
• P.Eng or working toward registration.
• Experience in PCB design and mixed analog/digital systems.
• Experience with power electronics and/or embedded systems.
• Familiarity with lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes and function generators.

Responsibilities

• Work on Kraken’s subsea battery systems product line and related cabling.
• Own mixed-signal PCB designs from specifications to prototype testing.
• Architect electrical systems spanning power, signal integrity and embedded control.
• Develop designs for extreme environments (pressure, temperature, EMI).
• Collaborate with mechanical, firmware and systems engineers to deliver integrated products.
• Guide products from prototype to production and field deployment.
• Mentor junior engineers and co-op students.
• Apply required codes and standards to design criteria.

Kraken Robotics is currently recruiting for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our Mount Pearl, NL office.

Mount Pearl, NL (Remote within Canada considered with future transfer to Mount Pearl)

At Kraken Robotics, we design advanced subsea imaging, battery, and robotic systems used around the world. We’re growing our engineering team and looking for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design of mission-critical electronics for next-generation ocean technologies.

You’ll report to the Engineering Manager, Newfoundland (10+ years in subsea systems engineering).

What You’ll Work On

• Kraken’s subsea battery systems product line, including power communication rails, charge and discharge modules, associated cabling
• Ownership of mixed-signal PCB designs, including specifications, schematic capture, PCB layout, and prototype testing
• Architect electrical systems spanning power, signal integrity, and embedded control
• Develop and validate designs for extreme environments (pressure, temperature, EMI)
• Collaborate closely with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to deliver fully integrated products
• Guide products from prototype → production → field deployment
• Mentor junior engineers and co-op students
• Apply required codes and standards to design criteria

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 4+ years of experience in electrical engineering
• Registered as P.Eng or working towards registration
• Background in PCB design and mixed analog/digital systems
• Experience with power electronics and/or embedded systems
• Proven ability to take designs from concept to production
• Familiarity with lab equipment like power supplies, oscilloscopes, function generators

Nice to Have (Not Required)

• Experience with subsea, marine, or microelectronics industries
• Familiarity with tools like Altium, Zuken E3, or LabVIEW
• Experience with sensor/telemetry systems
• German language skills considered an asset

Location & Flexibility

• Based in Mount Pearl, NL
• Remote within Canada supported (with periodic on-site collaboration), with transfer to Mount Pearl after ~6 months
• For American applicants: this role qualifies for CUSMA work permit
