Qualifications

  • Strong design and troubleshooting skills; able to work independently and in a team.
  • Experience with PCB design, wiring harnesses, and EMC/EMI considerations.
  • Ability to lead projects from concept to completion and support PMO work breakdowns.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop PCBs for electronic systems focusing on functionality and manufacturability.
  • Conduct circuit simulations to optimize performance and ensure specs.
  • Design wiring harnesses and assemblies considering signal integrity and EMC/EMI.
  • Develop system architectures and integrate electrical components into larger systems.
  • Lead electrical projects from concept to completion and support PMO in WBS creation.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and product design teams for seamless integration.
  • Override manufacturing, installation, and testing to meet specifications and customer needs.
  • Develop test plans, conduct testing, and validate reliability and performance.
  • Establish design criteria per required codes and standards.
  • Participate in design reviews and review engineering deliverables.
  • Support Production with technical assistance during manufacturing and in-field operations.
  • Mentor Electrical Engineers and Technologists.

Kraken Robotics is currently recruiting for an IntermediateElectrical Engineer to join our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs) for electronic systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Conducting circuit simulations using software tools to analyze and optimize circuit performance, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Designing wiring harnesses and cable assemblies for electrical systems, considering factors such as signal integrity, thermal management, and EMC/EMI compliance.
  • Developing system architectures and integrating electrical components into larger systems, considering overall functionality, performance, and safety requirements.
  • Leading electrical engineering projects from concept to completion. Support the project management office in developing work breakdown structures.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, firmware engineers, and product designers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other components.
  • Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Developing test plans and procedures, conducting testing, and performing validation to ensure the reliability and performance of electrical systems.
  • Establish design criteria for projects using required codes and standards.
  • Participate in the design review process.
  • Review and approval of engineering deliverables.
  • Work with the Production department to provide technical assistance during the manufacturing process.
  • Work with customers to understand project requirements and provide operational support while in the field.
  • Mentor Electrical Engineers and Technologists.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent engineering discipline with 4+ years experience.
  • Excellent design standards and strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Effectively focus on high level project objectives while executing detailed design tasks.
  • Demonstrated technical skills along with a proven track record for success.
  • Experience in the design specification, installation and connection methods of electrical equipment.
  • Design and review PCB Fab drawings, PCB Assembly drawings and provide input into new product designs.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills (technical reporting).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team environment.
  • High degree of organization, with the ability to prioritize task.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience with the following would be considered an asset:
  • Experience with Altium.
  • Experience with Zuken E3.
  • Experience with Sonar systems especially in an ocean environment.
