Job Description

Our Western Canada offices are experiencing significant growth, leading to new, complex projects where your contributions will be impactful. We seek individuals eager to develop skills, take on challenges, and advance their careers. Based in Vancouver, the Intermediate Electrical Distribution Engineer provides technical expertise in electrical distribution infrastructure (poles, wires, vaults, duct banks, cables), adhering to client standards, engineering principles, policies, and safety standards.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support daily operations of the distribution team, from responding to service requests to project delivery.
  • Develop design work packages including scope, schedule, and effort estimates.
  • Assist in resolving design and field engineering issues through independent analysis and judgment, recommending safe engineering solutions.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by communicating with stakeholders, defining scope of services, establishing design criteria, approving documentation, and reporting on progress.
  • Provide specialized expertise in Distribution, set high work standards, and influence standards and targets for junior team members.
  • Propose creative modifications to improve work processes, guidelines, and standards.
  • Design overhead and underground facilities for voltages up to 35kV, including line rebuilds, structure replacements, cable replacements, and more.
  • Attend site visits for data collection, design confirmation, troubleshooting, construction support, and quality assurance.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in an engineering role with Distribution knowledge, ideally in British Columbia.
  • P.Eng designation or eligibility to obtain it through EGBC.
  • Experience working with utilities in Western Canada.
  • Knowledge of overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems up to 35kV.
  • Strong communication skills for technical discussions and presentations.
  • Familiarity with GIS, CAD, and drawing standards.
  • Proficiency with industry design/analysis software such as SPIDAcalc and PLSCAD.
  • Ability to collaborate with remote teams and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Availability for occasional travel within Western Canada.

The salary range is from $80,000 to $110,000, depending on experience, training, skills, and internal equity. The actual salary may vary based on the candidate profile.
