Job summary

Global Resource Design Inc. in Calgary is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Designer to join our team.

You will develop electrical designs and detailed drawings for oil & gas, midstream and energy projects, collaborating with engineers and designers to meet client standards and codes. The role requires strong AutoCAD/CADD skills, 8+ years of electrical design experience, and a hands-on, ownership-driven approach in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Electrical design.
• Strong AutoCAD/CADD experience.
• ETAP experience is a strong asset.
• Experience with 3D design/modeling is an asset.
• Solid understanding of electrical codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs and technical drawings based on client requirements and engineering standards.
• Provide design support to Engineers and project teams.
• Prepare advanced drawings using AutoCAD.
• Develop layouts and designs per engineering specs, codes and client standards.
• Independently complete hands-on electrical design activities with minimal supervision.
• Prepare project deliverables including single line diagrams, load lists, equipment datasheets, layouts, and schematics.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support project execution.
• Update drawings based on mark-ups and field redlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs and technical drawings based on client requirements and engineering standards
• Provide design support to Engineers and project teams
• Prepare advanced drawings using the latest version of AutoCAD
• Develop layouts and designs in accordance with engineering specifications, applicable codes, and client standards
• Independently complete hands-on electrical design activities with minimal supervision

• Equipment layouts

• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, company procedures, and client requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 8 years of experience as an Electrical Designer
• Strong AutoCAD and CADD experience
• ETAP experience is considered a strong asset
• Experience with 3D design/modeling is an asset
• Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes and standards
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and solution-driven
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
