Job summary

TEEMA is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer in Calgary to take high‑level project information and independently develop complete electrical design packages for industrial applications, including oil & gas electrical work packages and control panels.

You will produce drawings, load/I/O lists, single line diagrams and wiring diagrams, ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements. The role requires strong QA/QC, vendor coordination, and the ability to work with multi‑discipline teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of electrical design experience in Oil & Gas, EPC/EPCM, or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong understanding of Oil & Gas Electrical Work Package requirements and deliverables.
• Demonstrated ability to independently develop electrical drawings and design packages.
• Experience with control panel design, PLC panels, I/O, wiring and equipment layouts.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, power distribution, and instrumentation interfaces.
• Familiarity with electrical codes, standards and hazardous-area requirements.
• Proficiency with relevant electrical drafting/design software.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, vendor docs, client specs, and engineering information.
• Strong attention to detail and QA/QC of deliverables.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical design and drawing packages from preliminary project information and client requirements.
• Independently produce and maintain key electrical design deliverables (load lists, I/O lists, kill plots, SLDs, motor control schematics).
• Design and develop electrical and control panels for industrial applications.
• Create complete Electrical Work Packages for construction and field execution.
• Interpret project documentation to determine electrical design requirements.
• Select and specify appropriate electrical components.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards and client requirements.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of drawings and design packages prior to issue.
• Coordinate electrical design with engineering, instrumentation, controls, mechanical, piping and other disciplines.
• Incorporate vendor information and respond to RFIs during fabrication and construction.

This is a senior, hands‑on design position for someone who can take high‑level or loosely defined project information and independently develop complete drawing deliverables and Electrical Work Packages. The ideal candidate has a strong electrical foundation, understands what is required for an Oil & Gas electrical design package, and can work autonomously with minimal supervision.

What you will be doing:

• Develop electrical design and drawing packages from preliminary project information, client requirements and engineering inputs.

• Design and develop electrical and control panels for industrial applications.
• Develop complete Electrical Work Packages suitable for construction and field execution.
• Interpret client standards, specifications, P&IDs and other project documentation to determine electrical design requirements.
• Select and specify appropriate electrical and control components.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, industry standards and client requirements.
• Perform detailed QA/QC reviews of drawings and design packages prior to issue.
• Coordinate electrical design requirements with engineering, instrumentation, controls, mechanical, piping and other disciplines.
• Incorporate vendor information and equipment requirements into electrical designs.
• Respond to RFIs and support design changes during fabrication and construction.
• Work directly with project and technical teams to resolve design issues.

What you must have:

• 8+ years of electrical design experience, ideally within Oil & Gas, EPC/EPCM, industrial automation or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong understanding of Oil & Gas Electrical Work Package requirements and deliverables.
• Demonstrated experience independently developing electrical drawings and design packages.
