Job summary

Associated Environmental Consultants, part of the Associated Engineering Group, seeks an experienced Intermediate Ecologist to join our Edmonton office. You will lead field programs across wildlife, vegetation, wetlands, and soils, and contribute to high-quality reports and regulatory documents.

You will manage projects and multidisciplinary teams, engage clients, and apply Alberta regulatory requirements while growing professionally in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant pure or applied science.
  • Professional registration or eligibility for registration (e.g. P.Ag., P.Biol.).
  • 8+ years post-graduation experience in environmental consulting.
  • Leadership skills and a drive to succeed.
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal legislation, regulation and permitting processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and technical report writing experience.
  • Ability to travel for short periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement field programs (wildlife, vegetation, wetlands, soils) and evaluate development impacts on ecosystem components.
  • Contribute to or lead the preparation of high-quality scientific and technical reports, including permits and regulatory documents.
  • Manage projects and inter-disciplinary project teams.
  • Contribute to business development and growth by identifying new opportunities, supporting proposals, and building client relationships.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen by understanding project financials and optimizing project efficiency.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to identify ecological risks and develop defensible, cost-effective solutions.
