Job description

PTW is looking for an Intermediate Draftsperson to support our steel fabrication division. This is a full-time permanent position working on-site from Monday to Friday. If you have previous experience with building envelope and self-frame buildings, we want to hear from you!

A Day in the Life...

1. Prepares approval drawings, shop fabrication drawings, and erection drawings related to building envelope systems, including cladding, insulation, doors, windows, and vapour barriers.
2. Ensures knowledge of building systems to prepare accurate sections/details, material lists, and shipping information.
3. Prepares building envelope drawings for fabrication and field construction, complying with applicable building and structural codes.
4. Communicates and coordinates with other disciplines such as mechanical and electrical, as well as project management, purchasing, and manufacturing departments to incorporate their requirements into structural drawings.
5. Prepares as-built drawings.
6. Assists in developing and maintaining standard structural practices for drafting and fabrication.
7. Follows PTW’s health and safety standards and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

Requirements:

1. Diploma in Drafting Technology or related education is an asset.
2. Minimum of 2-5 years drafting experience.
3. Proficient in AutoCAD and TEKLA 2019-2025.
4. Knowledge of Canadian Building Codes and materials.
5. Experience with industrial and commercial buildings, especially self-frame structures.
6. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
7. Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
8. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
10. Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.

Other Requirements:

• Own transportation required, as public transportation is unavailable at the location.
