Intermediate Drafter

We are currently looking for an Intermediate CAD Technician to join the growing team in our Calgary or Edmonton, AB offices.

About InnoTech Engineering

InnoTech is an engineering company focused on Operational Technology (OT) spanning instrumentation, electrical and automation infrastructure. Our team consists of highly skilled engineers, technologists, and technicians with vast experience, capable of handling both small and large OT projects while also providing support for day-to-day facility operations. InnoTech’s primary services are Controls (PLC, DCS, SCADA), Electrical (low and medium voltage), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) engineering, and OT Lifecycle Planning and Cybersecurity.

Position Summary

If you’re chosen for this full-time, permanent role, you’ll join our team of highly skilled engineers and technologists in developing and managing design deliverables (drawings) for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for our clients. You will apply standard industry practices and client-specific standards to create high-quality drawings. Preference will be given to those with a proven track-record of working independently in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. Role And Responsibilities

Reporting to an Engineering Team Lead, your primary responsibility will be focusing on supporting project goals by implementing detailed engineering markups into final copy drawings with minimal supervision.

  • Translate engineering design markups onto final copy deliverables.
  • Perform drafting on electrical engineering schematics such as Single Line Diagrams, equipment layouts, control panel layouts, power distribution drawings, wiring schematics, termination drawings and I/O module drawings.
  • Work closely with project design teams and project managers to manage workload and support client deadlines.
  • Ensure deliverables meet client standards and quality control requirements.
  • Utilize Microsoft Teams and other tools to manage drafting requests and work sequencing.
  • Use SharePoint to effectively manage files through the markup, design, and record-keeping design cycle.
  • Support the creation of As-Built (Redline) drawings from field-generated markups.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Diploma or Certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution with a focus on Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), specifically with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Four (4+) years of experience drafting for a professional client.
  • Experience creating drawings from templates.
  • Familiar with LISP and the automation of some drawing content.
  • Must be adaptable, organized and efficient in managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • In addition to the technical components of the role, you should demonstrate the values and disciplines of our organization:
    • a questioning attitude,

    • accountability, and
    • collaboration, including strong communication skills, and the ability to build functional relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English is essential.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 skills (SharePoint, Excel, Teams, etc.).
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
