About The Role

We are looking for an Intermediate Developer experienced with Ruby-on-Rails to help us solve tough problems and think up innovative solutions, based on software development best practices. You will work on customer- and admin-facing products, third-party integrations, and help architect the system toward greater flexibility, reliability, and scale.

• Creative problem solving for development issues, including root cause analysis backed by data.
• Building, maintaining, and architecting core web and mobile applications.
• Integrating with and maintaining third-party tools and services.
• Participating in our agile development process: sprint planning, story grooming, and stand-ups.
• Collaborating with departments such as Product, Customer Care, and Finance on product issues and new features.
• Adhering to SDLC and secure coding practices.
• Collaborating with the development team via pull requests, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
• Championing ZayZoon’s mission to provide responsible financial products to an underserved generation.

You Bring

• 2-5 years of hands-on Ruby on Rails experience with production applications.
• Experience solving issues related to scale, concurrency, queuing, background processing, and data ingestion.
• Mastery of fundamentals: SOLID principles, domain-driven design, performant code, and testing.
• Ability to build quickly for experiments and cleanly for core features.
• Strong SQL and data analysis skills.
• Full-stack mentality: owning features from back end to front end, testing, demos, and delivery.
• Experience with agile development, sprints, and scrum.
• Tools: Git, Github, Jira, and a good sense of humor (e.g., animated gifs).

Bonus Points If You Have

• Experience with BI tools (Metabase, Looker), ETL.
• Knowledge of React or React Native.
• Interest or experience in DevOps and AWS.
• Experience with financial technology, banking, or accounting systems.
