WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Construction Administrator to join our Building Structures group, located at offices within the GTA. Reporting to the Manager, Construction Administration, this position will be responsible for working with a multi-disciplinary team to complete structural general conformance reviews for a variety of building projects in the GTA.

What you’ll do at WSP
- Contract and construction administration and review to ensure general conformance to contract documents.
- May be resident at the “Place of Work” (as required) and will work independently, under the general direction of the Project Manager.
- Perform field reviews in accordance with the construction contract documents.
- Chair meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and issue to the project team.
- Carry out all quality assurance and quality control functions to confirm contractor’s adherence to the construction contract documents.
- Be responsible for tracking the details of change management processes to ensure sufficient information is gathered for the completion of as-constructed drawings.
- Facilitate and coordinate ad hoc meetings as required for the project, document and minute ad hoc meetings.
- Coordinate and distribute design submissions, meetings, and minutes of the above scopes.
- Issue Payment Certifications, Site Instructions, Responses to RFI, etc. (technical content may require to be provided / verified by others).
- Depending on our role in the project, you will lead or assist the Project Manager to act as Payment Certifier.
- Review submissions and shop drawings for completeness and general conformity to contract documents.
- Review work for deficiencies, maintain deficiency logs, and evaluate the expected value and time to address deficiencies.
- Review submitted quotes and monthly progress certificates and provide recommendations.
- Review inspection and testing reports and provide comments as required.
- Maintain a daily inspection diary documenting construction activity and recording progress and as-constructed details for project closeout.
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance.
- Review project schedule and make recommendations on milestone completion and/or cause and duration of service disruptions.
- Monitor Contractor’s adherence to plans and specifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned/required.
What you bring to WSP
- P.Eng designation licensed to practice in the Province of Ontario is an asset.
- 5 - 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience in construction of institutional, industrial, and/or transportation buildings.
- Experience supervising construction sites, field engineering, site work inspections, and work progress measurements relevant to the scope of services.
- Awareness of safety regulations and a safety-oriented behavior.
- Experience in design, engineering, and construction of projects of similar nature and magnitude.
- Ability to make technical decisions independently and seek guidance only as required.
- Awareness of construction contracts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Holder of Driver’s license ‘G’ is required.
