Job summary

Gore Mutual Insurance Company in Vancouver is seeking a Commercial Underwriter to craft tailored risk solutions for brokers and clients. You will refine commercial underwriting skills in a performance‑driven, supportive environment and contribute to customer care.

The role requires 3+ years of underwriting experience, a degree or equivalent, CIP/FCIP progress, and strong communication under pressure. Hybrid office schedule with two days in Vancouver office offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of commercial underwriting experience
• University degree, college diploma or equivalent experience
• Enrollment in or completion of the CIP and/or FCIP
• Ability to be comfortable with change while also promoting change to continuously improve the team’s operational effectiveness and efficiency
• Proven experience providing genuine customer service to broker partners by presenting commercial insurance solutions specific to the needs of the client
• Proficient underwriting skills, sound judgement, decision making, negotiation and analytical ability
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well under pressure with minimum supervision
• Proficient skill with computer applications including a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Location: We’re a hybrid team that thrives on the energy and value of in‑office collaboration. This role offers the best of both worlds, with 2 days a week spent in our vibrant office in Vancouver.

The expected base salary range for this position is $57,500 - $95,000. Depending on your relevant experience, skills, qualifications, market conditions and business needs, base compensation may vary. You have the potential to earn more through Gore Mutual’s discretionary bonus program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
