Key Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Architect to join our team supporting current and future major infrastructure, transit maintenance facilities, and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team environment where cooperation, attention to detail, and good communication skills lead to successful project execution.

Most of the Things You’ll Work On:

  • Create and assist in the development of designs from concept through construction, working with the Project Manager and Project Engineers.
  • Establish the design framework of projects.
  • Coordinate architectural and project design efforts.
  • Manage architectural designers and CAD staff assigned to the project to ensure successful completion of submissions within budget and schedule.
  • Coordinate and manage fee budgets and schedules related to architectural work.
  • Serve as the project leader and primary coordinator between multiple disciplines.
  • Apply knowledge of building codes and understanding of project design philosophy.
  • Prepare and coordinate detailed design and construction documents.
  • Resolve complex technical and design issues within the project scope and escalate others as needed.
  • Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews.
  • Review submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFIs and project changes.
  • Participate in business development and contribute to proposals.

Technical Design & Documentation:

  • Develop, review, and approve architectural drawings, details, and technical documentation per project requirements and codes.
  • Prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documentation ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform building envelope detailing, thermal assessments, and coordinate with engineering disciplines and subconsultants.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Control:

  • Ensure designs comply with Ontario Building Code (OBC), National Building Code (NBC), zoning bylaws, fire safety codes, and accessibility standards.
  • Oversee contract administration, including site inspections, submittal reviews, and resolving technical issues during construction.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and technical expertise.
  • Represent the firm in project meetings, design reviews, and presentations, ensuring alignment with client and regulatory requirements.

Sustainability & Innovation:

  • Integrate sustainable design principles and energy efficiency strategies.
  • Research and implement advanced building technologies, materials, and parametric design methodologies to enhance project performance.

Qualifications

You'll need to have:

  • Licensed Architect (OAA Member) with at least 5 years of experience in infrastructure, transit, industrial architecture, and large-scale projects.
  • Proven expertise in technical detailing, building envelope design, and construction administration.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and BIM workflows.
  • Deep knowledge of building materials, structural integration, mechanical/electrical coordination, and construction methodologies.
  • Experience with sustainability standards, energy modeling, and high-performance systems is an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills, mentoring experience, and ability to foster technical excellence.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Business development experience is a plus, with the ability to contribute to firm growth through client relationships and project acquisition.

The salary range for this position is CAD$66,000 - CAD$99,000. Actual salaries will vary based on location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
