Job summary

Fluor Canada Ltd. is seeking an Architect III to lead design efforts for industrial facilities in Alberta.

You will develop and review scope documents, specifications, and 3D designs, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver cost-effective, constructible solutions. Ideal candidates have 6+ years of experience with Canadian codes, proficiency in Microstation and AutoCAD (Revit BIM a plus), and be registered or eligible with AAA.

Qualifications

• Architectural degree from an accredited university.
• Registered with AAA or eligible to register in the future.
• Minimum 6 years of experience designing medium to heavy industrial buildings using Canadian codes.
• Proficiency with Microstation and/or AutoCAD; Revit BIM is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Developing and reviewing project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents.
• Developing and reviewing project specifications, building design criteria, building code analysis, life safety plans, and drawing packages.
• Coordinating building design of industrial buildings for heavy industrial projects including greenfield and revamp projects.
• Collaborating with other engineering disciplines, client representatives, vendors, and subcontractors to progress designs.
• Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver cost effective and constructible designs.
• Working with 3D structural models in a comprehensive 3D environment.
• Checking 2D design drawings and 3D models.
• Incorporating health, safety, and environmental factors in design.
• Participating in estimating, procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.

Job Description

As an Architect III you will be:

• Developing and reviewing project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents for all phases of projects.
• Developing and reviewing project specifications, building design criteria, building code analysis, life safety plans, building drawing packages, etc.
• Coordinating building design of industrial buildings and equipment enclosures for heavy industrial projects including green field and revamp projects in petrochemical, advanced technology, and metals facilities.
• Collaborating with other engineering disciplines, client representatives, vendors, and subcontractors to progress and complete designs of various industrial buildings.
• Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop/deliver cost effective and constructible designs.
• Working with 3D structural models in a comprehensive 3D environment.
• Checking 2D design drawings and 3D models.
• Incorporating health, safety, and environmental factors in design
• Apply cost competitive execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for the discipline engineering work
• Participating in estimating, procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.
• Completing other tasks as assigned.

Basic Job Requirements

• Architectural degree (e.g. BSc in Architecture) from an accredited university program.
• Currently registered with Alberta Architects Association (AAA), or able to register with AAA in the future.
• Ideal candidate will have a minimum 6 years experience designing medium to heavy industrial buildings using Canadian design codes.
• Have a thorough understanding of Canadian building codes, governing regulations, and industry practices.
• Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials, and means and methods of building construction.
• Proficiency with Microstation and/or AutoCAD is required.
• Experience with Revit BIM is an asset.
• Experience working in revamp projects is an asset.
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
• Driven to independently complete assigned tasks in a time-effective manner.

Note: If the successful applicant is a registered architect licensed with the AAA, the individual will be employed by Fluor Canada Ltd. and be seconded to Fluor Architecture Canada Ltd. for the specific architectural scopes they are performing.

Salary is based upon experience.

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
