Position purpose: Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Reporting, the Intermediate Analyst acts as a resource for financial planning by conducting analyses and making recommendations to support decision making. Monitors and controls the financial activities of funds to ensure compliance with university policies and funding agency regulations.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Resource Planning: Conduct financial studies and analyses to advise management on budgets, forecasts, and expenditure management to maximize revenue and control costs.
  2. Reporting and Financial Tools: Create complex financial reports and develop analytical tools such as dashboards and costing models to ensure efficient financial resource management.
  3. Advisory Services: Serve as a resource for management on financial management of funds, explaining policies and ensuring compliance.
  4. Policies and Procedures: Assist in developing and implementing financial guidelines and procedures to improve operational efficiency and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience
  • Professional accounting accreditation is an asset
  • Knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and business processes
  • Understanding of organizational governance, preferably in a university setting
  • Supervisory experience is an asset
  • Autonomy, discretion, analytical skills
  • Proficiency with Windows, financial systems, spreadsheets, databases, internet, and email
  • Bilingual in English and French (spoken and written)
