Responsibilities

• Independently plan, lead, and complete small- to mid-sized audit and review engagements with guidance for junior team members.
• Plan, execute, and complete compilation engagements and related tax preparation during slower periods.
• Draft corporate tax returns and prepare checklists.
• Prepare personal tax returns including gathering and entering client information.
• Recognize accounting and audit issues from basic analysis and understand standards with supervision.
• Build effective working relationships with client contacts.
• Respond to client requests and begin to perform research for complex opinions.
• Maintain technical knowledge IFRS, ASPE, CAS through workshops and publications.

About the Position

This is a hybrid position for one of the top 20 accounting firms in Canada.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Independently plan, lead, and complete small- to mid-sized audit and review engagements, while providing guidance, coaching, and support to junior team members throughout the engagement.
• Plan, execute, and complete compilation engagements and related tax preparation during the assurance practice's slower periods.
• Draft corporate tax returns and prepare appropriate tax checklists.
• Prepare personal tax returns including gathering, sorting and entering client information into iFirm.
• Recognize relevant accounting and audit issues from basic analysis.
• Understand the technical standards with the expected level of assistance and supervision.
• Build effective working relationships in assignments with operational client contacts.
• Respond effectively to client requests.
• Begin to perform research and prepare more complex opinions for technical conclusions on client engagements.
• Provide suggestions related to an assignment or project.
• Maintain technical knowledge – IFRS, ASPE, CAS – by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and establishing personal networks.
