Intermediate Accountant

Kamloops, BC Temporary $60000.00-$80000.00/year

The Company

Dawson Group is looking for a collaborative Intermediate Accountant who will be the direct liaison between the Finance and Operations teams.

In this role you will be a valued member of the Dawson Group, working in a 6 month contract term, full-time position of Intermediate Accountant, reporting to the Corporate Controller. The seasonality of the business will require you to understand the cycles and plan accordingly. This role will be responsible for performing full cycle accounting and month-end tasks for the Dawson Group. This includes preparation of required accounting entries, account reconciliations, inter-company entries, bank reconciliations and monthly financial statement variance analysis. Your base location will be in Kamloops, B.C; however, the Dawson Group embraces distributed work, meaning the successful candidate will have the flexibility to work from home, with set days in our office.

What Success Looks Like

• Ability to efficiently perform full cycle accounting and month-end tasks
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks while working within tight deadlines
• Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement variance analysis for the corporate departments
• Preparation and filing of periodic government returns including GST, PST and Work Safe BC.
• Process, prepare allocations, and bill inter-company transactions and reconciliations
• Prepare bank reconciliations across the Dawson Group of companies, process adjusting entries as required
• Prepare monthly standard entries across the Dawson group of companies; prepaids allocations, payroll entries, insurance
• Assist Corporate Controller with projects as required

You will work with other highly experienced professionals and be part of a team dedicated to providing value added services to all operations groups and building on a track record of success.

What You Bring

• Diploma or Bachelor of Business Degree or Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting
• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience
• In the final stages of their CPA program
• Exceptional Excel Skills including proficient use of pivot tables and formulas
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Industry experience in construction/manufacturing would be an asset
