Position Description

Reporting to the Aircraft Interiors Lead Hand, this role focuses on the modification, installation, and assembly of aircraft interiors. The ideal candidate should have experience working with engineering drawings, assembling aircraft monuments, and modifying interiors, from raw panel stages to final finishing. In addition, as Conair expands into composite manufacturing, this role will support in-house capabilities of composite structure and component production.

This position is open to AMEs (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer) and non-AME tradespeople who have strong technical expertise and attention to detail. Conair intends to provide the successful candidate with technical training at an accredited facility to help them develop the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this new role.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Assemble monuments and interior structures according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Install, modify, and repair aircraft interiors, including monument, panels & shell kits, and other interior components.
  • Fit raw shell kit panels and finish interiors to high-quality standards, including finishing processes such as edge filling, surface finishing, applying soft materials (Schneller/Tedlar), trim installation and final touch-ups to meet aesthetic standards.
  • Fabricate parts, prepare molds and laying up layers of composite materials
  • Collaborate with engineers and lead hands to ensure accurate and efficient installations
  • Installvarious interior components such as galleys, wardrobes, bulkheads, shell kits and panels using specialized tools and techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including modifications, installations, and repairs.
  • Report progress and potential issues to the lead hand or crew leader.
  • Provide input and feedback on planning processes related to interior conversions.
  • Assist in developing technical solutions for complex modifications and ensure they align with overall project goals
  • Assist in implementing measures to improve & exceed product quality requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Read, understand, and work directly from engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to build and modify and install aircraft interiors.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, technical instructions, and applying calculation methods and related skills.
  • Willingness to learn and receive education for additional competencies which support this role, including but not limited to: Composite Material Fabrication and Repair, and Process Specification Training.
  • Skilled in using hand and power tools for interior assembly and modification, with experience in final finishing.
  • Understanding of aircraft interior modification processes and technical requirements.
  • Proven experience delivering projects on time in a specialized team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality control.
  • Knowledge of aviation safety standards and regulatory requirements for interior installations.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and adaptability to changing demands.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised, while maintaining productivity and focus on the task at hand.
Required Education and Experience
  • Grade 12
  • 2-5 years of experience in aircraft interior assembly, modification, or related fields.
  • Diploma or certification or aviation-related fields, aircraft interiors, or technical trades preferred.
  • Experience working on multi-role interior aircraft, including performing role changes.
  • Experience with aircraft and/or marine interiors, including work on monuments, panels, and components, with a focus on assembly, installation, and repair.
