Our leading financial client in Toronto is looking for a talented Interaction Designer to join their team!

Interaction designers shape the experiences we create through each of our digital products. You’ll work within an agile environment and iterative process, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members and stakeholders to analyze, design and convey your design vision. A natural problem solver, communicator and facilitator, you’ll be involved in every step of the process from idea generation to implementation.

Responsibilities

• Understand user interface patterns and behaviors, and use that understanding to drive user comprehension and improve task performance
• Use visualizations and interactions to support analytic thinking with large data sets
• Facilitate design critique, evaluate interactions for inclusivity, and provide expert advice and guidance to cross-functional teams
• Facilitate ideation sessions and collaborative work activities
• Act as the interaction design subject-matter expert for the product design team
• Use a comprehensive understanding of interaction design theory, research data, and best practices to inform design decisions
• Design complex artifacts to communicate task flows, touchpoints, behaviors, and information exchange
• Create low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate ideas
• Develop complex prototypes to provide delivery specifications for development
• Present interaction design work to senior stakeholders
• Research and testing
  • Facilitate usability testing
  • Participate in or initiate research activities
  • Perform competitive audits and pattern/micro-interaction/component design audits relevant to the project

Experience & Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Design, HCI, CS, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms
• Experience in applied research, integrating user research into product design
• Ability to articulate design strategies, rationale, and risks
• Proficiency with tools like Figma, Mural, UserTesting.com

Ideal Candidate

• MA/MS degree or certification in a related design or technical field
• Strong understanding of research methods and their application during product development
• Appreciation for 'design thinking'
• Experience working in large organizations and agile environments

The target hiring compensation range for this role is C$53.75 to C$63.75 per hour. Compensation depends on education, experience, certifications, and location.
