Qualifications

Salary: $34.42--$37.11 hourly – Salary Commensurate with Experience

Position Details

  • The Intensive Services Counsellor functions independently in office, home, school, and community settings to provide evidence-informed intensive intervention to children and youth with complex mental health issues and their families, in collaboration with inter-professional team members.
  • This position also provides support, education, training, and coaching to children, youth, and families. The counsellor may be required to provide backup coverage for Nexus day treatment classrooms, be on the crisis standby roster, and co-facilitate groups and workshops.

Qualifications

  • A Child and Youth Diploma and/or Bachelor’s degree in Behavioural Sciences, Child, Youth and Family Studies, with courses in child development, child behaviors, working with families, and counselling skills.
  • At least two years’ experience working with children and youth with mental health challenges affecting their functioning at home, school, or in the community.
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR, Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) are assets.
  • French language proficiency, both written and verbal, is required.
