Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking highly motivated Electrical Engineering/Computer Science Interns for our Summer 2027 intern program out of our Alberta, Canada Office.

This paid full-time position runs June through August 2027, with potential to transition into a Full-Time role after graduation. You will work under supervision with Project Managers and Team Leaders, collaborating with engineers, scientists and technologists.

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in CS, data science, electrical or computer engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with engineering software: GIS, Python/JavaScript/C#/SQL or AI.

Responsibilities

• Learn OT projects focused on ADMS, EMS, OMS, and SCADA in North America.
• Support OT requirements gathering and business process reviews.
• Perform SCADA data entry and data evaluation.
• Assist in preparing reports, plans, presentations, and specifications for client.
• Will be supported by leaders, mentors and teammates.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Overview

TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Electrical Engineering/Computer Science Interns for our Summer 2027 intern program out of our Alberta, Canada Office. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2027 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.

Responsibilities

• Learn and shadow Operational Technology (OT) projects focused on control systems such as Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) in support of the current Electric Transmission and Distribution grid operations in North America.
• Support various project tasks including OT requirements gathering, business process reviews
• Perform SCADA data entry, and data evaluation.
• Support the preparation of reports, plans, presentations, and/or specifications for client.
• Will be supported by leaders, mentors and teammates.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Pursuing Masters, Bachelor or Associate Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated, detail orientated person.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Honest, fun, hard-working and ready to learn and grow.
• Experience with engineering software applications; GIS, Python or JavaScript or C# or SQL or experience with AI.

Compensation

In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation

Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
